What is your favorite coffee to enjoy at home right now and how to do you make it?
My favorite Fazenda coffee is the Ethiopia Misty Valley. Most of the time I brew it on a BonaVita brewer but when I’m not on the run I find it to be excellent on the aeropress.

What led to a career in coffee?
I got a job working in production for a local coffee roaster because I needed a change of pace in my career. Like many people who find themselves in the coffee industry over a decade later, I came because I thought it would be fun and I stayed because there was so much to learn.

What advice might you have for someone who is interested in working in or learning more about the coffee industry?
One of the nice things about the specialty coffee industry is that it is still a relatively young industry and your ambition to learn can make up a lot of ground you might lose to inexperience. If you want to do something in this industry you need to get a job doing it and if you can’t do that then get the job nearest to it and just be a sponge. Take in everything and with hard work, you will eventually find a place that suits you!

What is one of the most interesting aspects of coffee?
One thing I’ve been thinking a lot about lately is the idea that I liked coffee quite a lot before I knew anything about it. Somewhere buried under all the things I’ve learned and opinions I’ve formed is a person who merely enjoys a good cup of coffee. A simple good cup of coffee has that quality that art or music has where you know you love it before you think too hard about it.

Where are you from?
I live in Providence but I was born in Woonsocket, RI.

What are your hobbies?
I play music and it’s something I’m trying to do more of in 2019. I’ve played in bands and toured all over the world for much of my life and I’ve got a bit of an itch lately. I think this year I might try to put together a home studio. I also love sports, especially soccer. My soccer consumption could be a part-time job if someone would just pay me! I also CrossFit four times a week. I read as much as possible with my remaining time and enjoy a fine cocktail.
